I was at the grocery store today and seen these Vasconia Pots for sale. It looks to me that the design has changed.  Heavy aluminum handles now rather than the black insulated ones.

Worst yet that the lid is now dome shaped a no longer flat and may not work as a pot base.   Not sure if the pots dimensions have changed.  Didn't have my measuring tape with me.  Anyone use this new design yet?

Brian

I don't know if that's a bad change for the lid. More room on the top grate.

Handles might get hot?

Has the price changed? Looks almost like it's made of stainless, perhaps just a different pot? The domed lid might solve the problem of the hit or miss fit of the Weber lid. Drill a few holes and swap the vent from the Weber lid and it might work very well.

There website does not reflect the change. Sometimes a new pan made for a different region or territory or state maybe be not so well accepted and they will try it in another market to help close out a "specialized or test" design. They maybe dumping some in the US.

Or they may have changed the design. Drop a picture w/ E-Mail to their website and ask them and explain your concern.

I would just like to be able to find one in a store.  I refuse to pay amazon prices for one.  If they ever come back in stock at Walmart.com for around $25, I'll pick one up.

Does that price tag say $19.97?? Is that for the pot? I'd buy one and modify the lid with a vent and use it. Especially if it is stainless steel

I'm trying my best to have apathy for you living on Kona.  ... real hard my friend.  LOL   Love that side of the island.  Great fish tacos and the brewery is pretty darn good too. You're a lucky guy!

I worked in that restaurant for nine years, the last two as head chef. It had a different name/owner back then.

Yeah it really sucks here! Perfect weather, beautiful locale, nice beaches, good surf, Kona coffee, etc... Did I mention we grow the best avocadoes in the world here? We can't export them so we have to eat them all ourselves!

Man I feel your pain, when I was lining in Waimea I had to do some sourcing just to get a decent charcoal BBQ! Last time we visited I told my wife next time we go I'm shipping the mini!

You don't need to ship your mini! All you have to do is ship a pot to me, I build a mini and when you get here you'll have a mini while you are here...

One of my kids goes to school in Waimea (HPA) so I go there all the time. Here in Kona we have lots of places to get good stuff; heck even Walmart carries kiawe charcoal! I'm a kingsford blue guy myself but I do use the local wood as my smoke wood. I have waiwi (strawberry guava), apple guava and ohia on my property and kiawe is everywhere on the coast. I also live next to a coffee farm so I get that wood as well.

It'd be a long commute from Kauai to use my Mini!

I worked with Ohia when I was there. That's some rough wood. Was building a trellis for cars to park under. Went through more drill bits than the island had! Had one of my crew just sharpening bits and chainsaw chains!

The daughters of my friend that lives in Waimae went to HPA.

I know this is an old thread but is your friend named Scott?

I was just reviewing some of my old threads and came across this one.  Guess I had Kona or those fish tacos  at your old restaurant on my mind.  I gotta ask... Why in the world can't those avocados be exported? Some kind of California conspiracy?

We have fruit files here. So no avos, lychee, mangoes, papayas, guavas. etc. can be exported in their raw state. A lot of fruits have to be grown in hot houses to keep the fruit flies away: tomatoes and cukes are grown indoor only.
