Bear - here in 'Bama we are almost finished with high school ball (45 games already). Of course that means we played with propane heaters in the stands sometimes in February. Then the travel and fun start with summer ball.
I assume your preheat comment meant to make sure it was stable at the temp I will use before I put the pork on???

LOL---We can't even see our baseball fields until April----under a couple feet of white stuff.
Actually it wouldn't hurt to be at a little higher temp than you're going to use, before you put 5 butts in. The 5 butts will bring you down. Then get it back to your planned temp, and hold it there.
