I picked up a vertical UDS a few weeks ago.  I have done tri-tip, half chickens, ribs and am currently spying the Mexican chuckie for my next attempt at greatness.

I joined here to help improve my cooking, as I have already found a wealth of information here.

Hello and welcome from East Texas. This is a great site, lots of information and great people that are willing to throw in their two cents worth on about anything.

Learnem-welcome to SMF! Lot of UDS users here so you'll fit in just fine. When you find out how easy they are to build, you'll want another.

Enjoy the Smoke!

Ha hahaha   Dalean 08 is my brother, Brent, He also has the same smoker I have.

Thanks for all the kind words

hope I can help someone soon, but I have some more work to do with my smoker, like a ball valve and pipe nipple

Welcome.  I spend a great deal of my summers there working on the farms.  One of my uncles was foreman for Blue Moon.  I have loads of family there, Brannon and Neilson family.

Welcome. I knew some folks who walked the streets of Bakersfield along with Buck Owens and Leather Pants (aka Dwight Yoakum) I know that is where the Chips folks go when they get in trouble and wind up with a disciplinary transfer from where they normally hang out. Be careful on the driving.  Watch out for summer..its hot. Not quite as intense as Needles. Now that biotch is muy calinte. Hope you can escape one day. Keep us up to speed on the cooking. Thanks. Love the UDS's but they make them too pretty these days. I am voting for a name change to Pretty Drum Smokers. Whatcha think?
