Hi Guys,

Not sure if they changed something in the design of the Char Griller (Smoke'n pro model) smoke stack, but now they have a flared out lip at the base of the stack. I went out and bought a 3" dryer vent yesterday and spent the better part of an hour trying to find a way to make it fit over that lip, no go!

Has anyone else had an issues with this / found a way to get around it?

From what I can tell I pretty much have 2 options, go with a 4" vent and loose more real-estate in body, or break out the angle grinder and take that lip down.

If you guys have any advice i'd really appreciate it.

I rolled up some sheet metal stock and shoved it up the stack tube.  When it tried to uncoil it held itself in place.

I've read that people had a hard time getting up to temp without the stack extension?
No, the CG gets up to temp quite nicely with no modifications at all. The intent of lowering the stack is to even out the cooking temps in the cooking chamber across the grates. If you go this route I recommend that you extend it down no closer that 4" above the cooking surface and use pipe not flexible hose.

Anyone familiar with the tall boy mod? apparently cutting the ends off of a tall boy can and then cramming it into the bottom of the stack is supposed to be a good mod option.
