Big Lake Alaska
I wanted to say hello to all the future friends I hope to make by being a part of this forum. My plan is to build a Reverse Flow BBQ Smoker using an 80gal Air Tank but naturally want to eleminate as many mistakes by being a pest on the forum.

Glad you joined the group. The search bar at the top of any page is your best friend.
About anything you wanna know about smoking/grilling/curing/brining/cutting or slicing
and the list goes on has probably been posted. Remember to post a QVIEW of your smokes.
We are all smoke junkies here and we have to get our fix. If you have questions Post it
and you will probably get 10 replies with 11 different answers. That is because their
are so many different ways to make great Q We all have our own taste.

Happy smoken.

to SMF!  We are so glad you joined us!

We love to see pictures of what you are cooking (or what we call q-views here at SMF).  To "upload the q-views" just follow the directions here and it will be easier. If you are using a cell phone, an IPad or a kindle, go to the main SMF page and click the Mobile button. Will make the uploads a bit faster too.

If you didn't read the "Terms of Service" notes.....please do.  There are a few things that everyone should know about those pesky little rules before plunging into the forums and some guidelines of how to interact within the forums. Off site links are not allowed here at SMF per Jeff. Not that you have done anything wrong....just a little bit of FYI for new members!

If you need any help roaming around the forums....just holler!  Happy to help out!

Kat

Welcome to the forums!  This is the best place I know for sharing ideas on smoking, grilling, curing, etc.  There are plenty of friendly, knowledgeable folks who really enjoy helping one another.  Looking forward to your input here, and just ask when you need anything...someone here will surely have the answer.  And good luck with your RF build project!

Thank you Sir... Oklahoma Hmmm Ardmore, Tulsa, OKC met some nice folks in that neck of the woods!

Welcome to the forum!
I was just up on the Kenai Peninsula Aug 24-31.
3rd year in a row fishing with Randy Berg of "Rod N Real" out of Soldotna.
We nailed the Silvers on the Kenai and managed to nab a few halibut on the Cook Inlet.
Ended up bringing home ~30 lbs of halibut filets and ~60 lbs of Silver Salmon filets.
Now just need to find some time off work to smoke some of these Silvers.
Once again, welcome!

Jaybone..... May have bumped into you on the river. We hit the Kenai hard July/Aug mainly for the Reds. All told we 120+ this year dipnetting at the mouth and have been on the Silvers near our home in the Valley!! Great to hear there are some forum members make it to Alaska.... Let me know if you come back.

Glad to hear you nailed some salmon on the Kenai.
I heard that locals are allowed to use dip nets.
Bet it's a blast.
Gotta be a challenge if you get too many in the net at one time.
120 fish should keep you going for awhile.
Looking at going back up at the end of August 2014.
Best regards!
