I have been using a charbroiler grill smoker combo with a firebox for 5 years now, it is getting rough. I was given a air compressor tank last week and my mind has taken over. I want to build a smoker and get some experience in and build a kick A$$ smoker when I learn what I am doing. I have read all weekend and have an idea, that may or may not get me into trouble lol. I look forward to the advice, I have thick skin and can take criticism, but play devil's advocate to find the best solution that works for me. Glad I found this site as from what I have read there are killer builds and great advice from knowledgeable people.

hi how is it going?  I am also working on a smoker.  look at my thread and there is a picture of what it looked like when I first bought it.  It is slowly turning into a work of art.  what part of Nashville do you live in?  I used to live there and I miss it.

Thanks guys. Repolard71 i am just north of Nashville in Hendersonville. Been here 6 years moved down from Michigan. Great place to raise my boys and let them play baseball.

:welcome1: to SMF!!! We're happy you found us! You've come to the right place, we have over 50,000 members who just love to share their experience and over 1,000,000 posts describing it! Yea that’s right over 1,000,000!

The search bar at the top can be your best friend when you are trying to find answers to your questions but you can still ask too if you want!

We have an ”Articles” section that is full of great information about smoking to include a lot of recipes and instructionals. Check it out there is a lot to learn in there!

You might want to check out ”Jeff's Free 5 day E-Course”, it will teach you all the basics plus a whole lot more!

Hendersonville is a great town...but I guess I'm biased since I was born there.  We lived in Gallatin at the time, but with 18 years in FL and now 13 in GA it's been way too long since I've been back.

to SMF!  We are so glad you joined us! Have a Kiddo living in Murfreesboro....she goes to Nash-vegas every weekend.

We love to see pictures of what you are cooking (or what we call q-views here at SMF).  To "upload the q-views" just follow the directions here and it will be easier. If you are using a cell phone, an IPad or a kindle, go to the main SMF page and click the Mobile button. Will make the uploads a bit faster too.

If you didn't read the "Terms of Service" notes.....please do.  There are a few things that everyone should know about those pesky little rules before plunging into the forums and some guidelines of how to interact within the forums. Off site links are not allowed here at SMF per Jeff. Not that you have done anything wrong....just a little bit of FYI for new members!

If you need any help roaming around the forums....just holler!  Happy to help out!

Wow that's close. I'm about a half mile east of the Onyx Ice Arena in Shelby Township.

So how does the TN weather compare in all four seasons? I bet the winters are much milder and shorter. We had a VERY cold spring up here this year.

I love the four seasons of Mi. but love only having a hoodie for a winter coat now. Winters here where we live typically are from mid Dec to the end of Feb I have never had snow more then 4" on the ground and was gone in less then a week. It gets into single digits at night then warms up during the day. Most houses here have the water heater in the garage with no insulation on the pipes so that should give you an idea on the temps. Spring and fall are short, with summer this year being the most humid of the 7 summers I have been here. When I moved here in May of 07 it was HOT 95* + over 70 straight days with 16 straight in triple digits.
