Hey guys (and gals) My name is Sean. I live in Kyle Texas, just south of Austin. I've been wanting to get into smoking and stick burning for a long time, and even bought a few cheap grills with fire boxes but never used them for smoking. I just moved last month and had left my old cheap grill behind. So, in the market for a new one, I figured it was time to step up and spend a little money on hopefully something that will be worth it.

So, I picked up and Old Country Pits BBQ Wrangler. So far I've smoked a pork butt, a few racks of ribs and two briskets. Everything has come out pretty good so far, but I know I still have a lot to learn and this seems like the place! Actually I have been reading the forums the past month (where I did a little research on my smoker before I bought it) but, I'm ready to start chipping in and learning what I can. I like the smoker pretty well. I have a few minor problems and questions, but thats for another thread.

Here is my pit and assistant aspiring pit master (no pun intended? :p )

to SMF!  We are so glad you joined us! Your "pit"master assistant is a pretty one!

We love to see pictures of what you are cooking (or what we call q-views here at SMF).  To "upload the q-views" just follow the directions here and it will be easier. If you are using a cell phone, an IPad or a kindle, go to the main SMF page and click the Mobile button. Will make the uploads a bit faster too.

If you didn't read the "Terms of Service" notes.....please do.  There are a few things that everyone should know about those pesky little rules before plunging into the forums and some guidelines of how to interact within the forums. Off site links are not allowed here at SMF per Jeff. Not that you have done anything wrong....just a little bit of FYI for new members!

If you need any help roaming around the forums....just holler!  Happy to help out!

Kat

Thanks for the welcomes! And the compliments on my pit. She's good company, but we're still working on the 'helping' part. Maybe fetching a beer every now and then wouldn't be the end of the world lol.

oldschoolbbq, thanks for the links! I had ran across the stickburning 101 post not too long ago and there is a lot of good info there. My fires are definitely getting cleaner and more efficient. Now I just need to tune the pit and even out the temps. Oh, speaking of Temple. I am born and raised in Austin but was stationed at Ft. Hood for 6 years. I lived in Belton for the last two before the Army so graciously moved me to El Paso for my last 10 months of service lol. All is well though, I am finally back in central Texas ;)
