I am in desperate need for finding a digital thermostat. Does anybody have any suggestions? I saw a chaney at Academy and I have read up on a lot of stuff on the Maverick 732 but its like a 50/50 chance from what I have read on them. I am mainly wanting to have it for the temps in my smoke chamber but having one for when I do pork loin, briskets, etc would be grand.

I've had a Mav ET-73 for a year and a half and use it almost every weekend. The only thing I've had to replace was the batteries, once!
I think the biggest complaints with the Mavs is the probes. I never wash mine in water, I wipe them with an alcohol pad and am very gentle with them when using it.

I have both the 732 and the older 73 mavericks. Never a problem and temps are right on. Original sensors. Must have for smoking.

Mine is Maverick's older ET-73, earlier version of the 732.  I've had it for probably 4 years with no problems at all.  Like Dave already said, I never submerse the probes, and I treat them very gently...never had an issue.

I am going to get the ET 73 off amazon probably in a few weeks for I'm bout to seriously modify my offset smoker. May be a week or two before I can get her fired back up again but I believe the mods I am doing will be well worth it in the end!.

I've got two 732's.
Got the second one so I'd have a spare.
Having the spare has come in handy because I've had two probes go belly up in the short 3 or 4 months that I've had them.
Need to order another set of probes from Todd (A-MAZE-N Products).
Will be much gentler with the probes from now on.

I have an ET-72, I bought for my dad probably 10 years ago. Its always been plus/minus 5 degrees, I can live with that.

I got it for him because he had never used IT, the man has been smoking/grilling/BBQ'ing since a kid. When everything changed to IT he was lost and frustrated. He quit cooking because of it.

The Maverick works great, Pop just didn't appreciate them changing it on him........ I have never been around a different brand but I assume electronics are mostly the same, its hit or miss. I just got a good one.

I have never needed service so I can't comment on it.

I was checking these out online yesterday, saw some tough reviews so I held off, maybe I will go ahead and give it a try. Sure would be nice to have something like this, as long as it works a while.

I am awaiting delivery of my Mav-ET-732 from Todd. I'm sure it's already posted somewhere in here, but can someone refresh me on what NOT to do with regards to the probes? I would like not to break them before I ever use them. Also, I recall someone posting something about shrink tubing the probes or what not, to prevent damage. Any help appreciated. I have some shrink tubing out in the garage collecting dust. Thanks!

I have an ET-73 that I have had for almost 2 years now and have not had any problems with it and have used it almost every weekend! Oh I did have to put new batteries in it once! I also have an ET-732 I bought recently just because they came out with a black one and I liked the cool factor! The 73 does have a very short range with the remote so I like the range of the 732 a lot better.

I am always very gentle with the probes especially where the wire connects and I never wash them in water. I wipe them good with some isopropyl alcohol sprayed on a paper towel. I always wipe all my therm probes with IPA before I stick them in meat!
I think the biggest problem people have with the probes is they either immerse them in water or they just aren't gentle with them.

Good to know, I am going to go ahead and order one for myself from Todd while he has them on sale with free shipping... Glad I saw this thread.
