Hi, my name is John and I am new to smoking. My friend gave me some ribs he smoked 3 weeks ago and I'm hooked. Went to Lowes and bought the Master forge 50 in propane smoker last week. I already cooked up some ribs (twice) and today a pork butt. I'm using store bought rubs for now, the ribs were so tender, and as I write Im waiting for the pork to be done. This site is great, I learned so much the past few days, but I have so many questions. My first is how do I keep smoke going, it seems like after 2 hours it stops smoking, do I keep adding wood? I been using applewood that I soak. I mix small chunks and shavings. The smoker has a metal pan with a cover with holes in it. I been adding, but it seems like I go through alot. Thanks.
