Thanks to Bearcarver's thread on his CSR, I was inspired to do some CSR for our 4th of July dinner tonight.

CSR out of the fridge while I get the EUDS fired up.  Second coat of rub applied while things are warming up.

Into the smoker with cherry and maple wood.

The Electric Ugly Drum Smoker or as the grand kids call it the "Oil Drum Smoker".

Ribs hot out of the smoker.

Ribs sprinkled with brown sugar and apple juice added to the pan before foiling and going back on to the smoker until the it is 195°

IT of 194° reached and it's time to go on the grill.

Corn and Ribs on the grill, ribs basted with spicy brown sugar bbq sauce.

Bacon wrapped Corn on the COB

MONEY SHOT!

Thanks again Bear for the inspiration!

'Puter is acting dumb again.  Somehow the picture of the Oil Drum Smoker posted upside down.

Oh well, it's getting late and Ma Dutch is insisting that I hit the shower before I hit the bed.  Guess she's not a fan of Eu de cherry and maple!

I removed the upside down pix of the Oil Drum Smoker and used a pix from my build thread.  pay no attention to the 07/27/09 date stamp.

Nice plate and interesting Corn preparation...JJ

Thanks JimmyJ, next time I think I'll do with out the foil and go with some thinner sliced bacon.

Evening Dutch......   I was reading along, trying to figure what the "E" stood for....  My only thought was "Expensive" UDS....  Little did I know.... "Electric" was the key word I was missing....    Grub looks great....  Happy Fourth......

Dave it's funny that you said "expensive". I build my EUDS from parts salvaged from a rusted out Readi-Smoke and the Quaker State barrel that my son had given me. (There's a build thread on it here somewhere).
While building this smoker, Ma Dutch asked me "How much is this going to cost"? She had just lost her job and was watching where the money went. I even reused the nuts and bolts from the Readi-Smoke so my out of pocket was $0.00. That's also why the drum is still Quaker State green-too frugal to paint it.

Bacon on corn; Whoda thunk?  That looks great.  Maybe I can sneak that past the wife.

Dutch...that looks awesome...saw a recipe in a mag for the bacon wrapped corn.  Yummy!

Sounds like we subscribe to the same magazine. It's #5 on the 50 ways to do corn.

I never would have thought of wrapping corn with bacon - got to try that next time.  Everything goes better with bacon!
Don't do what I did and wrap the corn in foil. All it did was steam the bacon and it never crisped up until I took it out of the foil.

Wrap corn with two strips of bacon and place on grill med-high heat for 15 minutes-turning once; I gave the ears a quarter turn about every 3 minutes. Word of caution~ soak the husks really well or take off before grilling. They do like to flame up.
