How long can a pork butt rest wrapped up with towels in a cooler & still be "pull-able"?

As long as it stays above 140* it will be OK but as soon as it drops below then it needs to get to under 40* within 4 hours, it's the 40-140- rule in reverse.
If insulated well they will usually stay hot 3-4 maybe 5 hours.

Yeah a good 4 hours, but anything over that, I'd use a therm and take a temp reading just to be safe

This 4th of July, take time to remember how and why we celebrate. It's not just a day to party.

With that advice I will just stay up & pull it after an hour rest.  Will start another butt & 12 lb brisket after the 2 other butts come off.  If anyone has a spare 60" Lang to give me I wouldn't be in this situation.  I already made my beans, sauces, apple pies, coleslaw potato salad & ribs.  Just going to reheat a few things & I am sure it will still be some of the best BBQ most of my guests have had.  Anyone that complains will be duck taped to my clothesline or thrown off the property :)

I am having an Independence Day celebration & will be reading the Bill of Rights before lunchtime & Declaration of Independence before dinner.  People coming will go to the house with the 20' flag pole I installed 4 years ago.  They won't need an address.  This is a family event & there won't be a bunch of drunk people.  We will have our own fireworks after the city show finishes which we can see from our back yard.
