I am sorry. No more post till burn out.

Still waiting on drill bit to get here.  I bought a 2 pack of thermos.

What should I do with the lid at burn out?

How do I burn the lid without warping it?

How's it going there farmer john? Yea those will work fine...remember most of those bi-metal thermometers aren't super accurate but will give you a bench mark to go by.  If you don't have something like a Maverick ET-732 i'd sure recommend it.

My lid i just set in the top of the barrel end on end and it fared just fine, when one end burned good i just spun it to the other side.    I've heard about some lids warping but i believe it's because they were thinner gauge metals.

I have a Maverick ET-732 I use in the MES.

Yea you're golden then.   I doubt you'll warp that lid but worst case you have spares...even if you didn't you could find one.    Good luck on the build....give me a shout if you need anything.  Keith

Thanks. Just keep following this thread.
