I had a few packages of short ribs in the freezer. I've never smoked beef ribs of any kind before, so I decided to throw them on the smoker and see what happens!

I cut them into single rib sections and trimmed all the fat i could off of them.

Dusted them with rub.

Put them on the smoker at 225.

After 1 hour.

After 3 hours.

I put them in a pan with water and Moore's Marinade, and wrapped them in foil.

After 1 hour in the pan, they have pulled back on the bone nicely.

I put them back on the grate, and glazed the with sauce.

They came out a little tough, but had a great flavor. I'm not sure if I should have cooked them longer or what. They seemed to toughen up as soon as i took them off the grill. I defiantly have to try these again! Thanks for looking!

The look really really tasty...mmmm    Short ribs can take a good 4-6 hours really low and slow like you did...with basting every hour or so and come out very well.   Prior to smoking i sear them over some coals ...and don't foil.

I just did some beef short ribs that went 6 hours....but it was worth it.

Look good to me Ned!

Well done.  As long as they tasted good, that's what counts.

Just keep trying til you get 'em right!

Good luck,

Bill
