I am using my new Masterbuild now to cook ribs and chicken...can you tell me how often do you think I should open the bottom door to check on the wood chips and water as I am new to all of this?  I have read threads about how people have modified things and I will do so after this first smoke.....but for now just want to try it out this way for the first time..any wisdom you can share I will look forward to ........as I enjoy my beer on the patio

If you have smoke coming out. You know you have wood chips. As far as the water goes. You should be ok for a 6 hour rib cook. When you do add chips, check the water then. If you have to add water. Make sure it is hot water. So you don't drop temp as bad.Just play with it and have some fun.You will learn what your smoker likes.

Happy smoken.
