Thanks JJ, it won't compare to a Lang..lol  but i'm super happy with it.   Smokes for 10 plus hours, lift up the pot and add wood or fuel...It's definitely my go to smoker now.  I'll start doing butts in it now that i know the temp controllers work with it.    I need my sleep on those all nighters!

That's really cool! The bird looks delicious and I'm glad to see the PartyQ seems to do the job on the mini. No issues with battery life I guess, which was my one concern. Also, any idea what the lowest temperature setting on the PartyQ is?

Also, any idea what the lowest temperature setting on the PartyQ is?  I've had it down and cooked around 200 to slow cook for a while and then crank it up to finish but i suppose it could go lower.  It officially goes down to 32 but it would be pretty tough to cook then. :)    Seriously though the reason it goes down to 32 is so you can calibrate it in ice water i'd imagine, which i have done.
Thanks Red..  and boat the PQ works really good on my drum, kettle and now the mini...battery life is fine and also the batteries are't expensive.   I use my Pitmaster IQ more just because i can plug it in but for convenience and ease of setup the PQ works like a charm.

One thing i noticed is when doing a whole bird when the temp get's around 125 the chicken puts out so much water that "evaporative cooling" hits and it's hard for the 5cfm fan to compensate, every other piece of meat it's no problem at all and keeps extremely tight temps.   Chickens are by far the hardest to maintain temps regardless but the Pitmaster does really good with it.

I'd recommend the PQ though as a cheap backup, to travel with and to have if you need to run multiple grills.

Kieth, when using the PQ do you get the temp close then install the PQ and let it do its thing, or do you dump in the coals, close everything up and let the PQ do its thing?

I get closer to the temp just to save the  battery...open the vents, get the temp up and then close the vents and turn it on to baby sit.

Good lookin' Chix.
